Tickets include free admission to the museum for those attending the workshop so there are no hidden costs for you on the day.

Embrace play with our amazingly awesome non-electronic playthings, delve in, imagine, and enjoy time together as a family in our inspiring environment.

Saturday 9 April Easter | Playing about with boxes

Join us and play about with boxes of all shapes and sizes and find the perfect one for you to transform into a racing car. We cannot wait to see what you create and construct.

Saturday 28 May May half-term | Colourful tracks

We are bringing out all of our tracks and colourful playthings for you to enjoy as we kick-start our May Half-Term theme all about Crazy Colourful Cars.

*Not sure what STEM is? Don’t worry, you don’t really need to know what it is to enjoy and embrace these activities. That’s what are skilled and talented Learning Team are here for. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. This can sound a little scary, especially when you have young children, but STEM based play is important for children to develop skills and knowledge that they will use at school and into their adulthood too. Exposure to any play that encourages children to figure things out, how things work and to be creative is STEM, and as you become more familiar with our sessions, you will quickly realise that STEM is all around us, all the time, and you will have been supporting your children with this already, perhaps without even realising it.

Family Museum Engineers are play sessions designed for the whole family, providing opportunities to explore an open-ended play environment using unique resources with a STEM* based approach that encourage engineering skills, problem-solving, imagination and, of course, quality family fun! Normally, the sessions are linked to themes and objects within our collections. When our Holiday Specials are on, you can expect very playful exploration that will start off the holiday theme in the best way possible – through PLAY.
