Guidelines for those attending church services during COVID Period

During the COVID period, Croydon Tabernacle and all users / visitors to its premises must abide by the Government rules at the time as well as the rules set out below.

  • During the COVID period and in accordance with Government guidance, the church building will be open for communal worship services in the main auditorium only : https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-for-the-safe-use-of-places-of-worship-during-the-pandemic-from-4-july/covid-19-guidance-for-the-safe-use-of-places-of-worship-from-2-december; https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home.
  • The numbers of attendees allowed at the services will be in line with the Government guidance and taking into account CTs risk assessment recommendations which is currently a maximum of 41 people ( includes adults and children).
  • Anyone planning to attend the service in person must have obtained approval prior to attending. Those showing up without prior approval will be prevented from coming into the church building.
  • Non- compliance to the rules is not an option for anyone coming to the church. Non-compliance means you put others at risk and to the church, potential financial risk of a fine. Anyone found to break the rules will be banned from attending services during the COVID period.

The rules to be aware of and adhered to are as follows:-

  1. Maximum of 41 people (include adults and children) are allowed in the auditorium .
  2. There is no provision for childcare or supervision, so only children who can comply / adhere to the rules under their parents supervision should attend.
  3. Anyone with COVID related symptoms; or cough or cold symptoms ; or who has been exposed to someone who has tested positive within the previous 2 weeks or belonging to a high risk group (over 65; those with underlying health conditions etc) should stay at home for their safety and others.
  4. A maximum of 4 choristers allowed on stage to minister when there is a congregation / audience at any given time. All are to maintain distance of at least 2 metres apart.
  5. For track and trace purposes, the names, phone numbers and email addresses of all attendees must be provided by completing the register on arrival. Pls do not enter the auditorium without registering first.
  6. All attendees must wear face masks whilst on church premises and in the auditorium. Only those presenting valid ‘exemption certificate’ will be allowed to come in without face masks.
  7. All attendees must abide by the instructions laid out for entry and exit of the auditorium (no exiting via main entrance). Exit is through the side door.
  8. All attendees must sanitise their hands on entry and exit of the auditorium- hand sanitiser stations are present at both entrance and exit.
  9. All attendees will have their temperature checked by security on arrival. Anyone having a high temperature will be denied entry to the premises. Anything above 37.8 degrees centigrade is deemed high temperature.
  10. The auditorium has been set up and chairs arranged in line with Government guidance for social distancing; please do not play around with the seating layout or move the chairs.
  11. No loud singing is allowed by the congregation to minimise aerosol formation and risk of spreading.
  12. No food or drink can be consumed on the premises.
  13. Only max of 2 people allowed in the toilets at the same time.
  14. In accordance with current government guidance as at 2nd December 2020, people attending the service must not interact with anyone outside their household or bubble when in the auditorium/ building.
  15. Once the service is over , attendees should leave the premises ASAP. No congregating or standing around in groups inside, except for groups of up to 6 when outside.
  16. When using the pulpit, each user should wipe down top of pulpit with antibac wipes before and after they have spoken. Wipe microphone and wear face mask/ visor.
  17. Anyone caught breaking these rules will be banned from attending services till after lockdown.
