Description

The Mayor (Councillor Claire Darke) and Consort (Dr. Paul Darke) are hosting a Family Tree Day on Friday 20 March 2020 in the City Suite, Civic Centre, Wolverhampton, between 10am and 4pm.

If you are already researching your family tree or have already made a start and stuck with your research, help is at hand!

The event will feature keynote speakers experienced in local, national and international family tree research. Participants will be able to explore their own family history through workshops, masterclasses and talks with representatives from family tree organisations for advice and information.

Keynote Speakers:

  • Karen Evans (Genealogist) - 'Combining Traditional Research with DNA Testing'
  • Anand Chhabra (Apna Heritage Archive) - ‘Punjabi Family History, A Photographic Journey in
    Wolverhampton 1960s-1980s’
  • Adrian Stone (Own History) - ‘Tracing Your Windrush Roots’
  • Simon Briercliffe - ‘Emerald Isle to Black Country: Who Were Our Irish Ancestors’
  • Patrick Vernon ‘African Diaspora Family History’

Workshops:

  • 5 Steps To Tracing Your Family Tree

  • Digitising Old Photographs
  • Pitfalls, Brickwalls and Blind Alleys in Family
  • Starting Family History on a limited Budget
  • Discover how to make the most of DNA Testing

£12 per ticket / £8 concessions. All proceeds will benefit the Mayor of Wolverhampton's Charitable Fund. Registered Charity Number: 1180065

A buffet lunch is included in the ticket price. Book early to avoid disappointment.
