Fancy That! What we can learn from pigeon fanciers lung.
Sat 22 October 2016, 11:30 – 12:15 BST
Pigeon fanciers lung is an allergic reaction to pigeon dust in the small air sacs (alveoli ) in the lungs in some pigeon fanciers. The British Pigeon Fanciers Medical Research Team based at the Biomedical Research Centre (University of Glasgow) have been researching the condition for over forty years and it is true to say that prevention is still better than cure. However, with increasing numbers of reports of similar allergic reactions from environmental and industrial sources it is not just pigeon fanciers that can benefit from the research. Join expert Dr Phil Lynch to find out what the ongoing research can teach us and which preventative measures are important.
