Can I do all the sessions?

Yes! But note that Fin's sessions are led on Smallpipes in the key of A and Bridghe's sessions are led on Smallpipes in the key of C

Question 2

What does the ticket price cover?

Accepted Answer

The ticket price covers 4 x 1 hour sessions on the dates given for a specific block.  If you want to do two blocks it will cost £110 and if you want to do 3 blocks it will cost £165.

What will happen during the sessions?

You be sent a set list a few weeks in advance of each meet up with audios and manuscripts for tunes you should familiarise yourself with before the live Zoom.  During the hour we are together you will play along in real time with the tutor with yourself on mute.

Can I join in if I've never been to a Far North event before?

Absolutely!!!!

Question 5

Will anyone hear me playing? Do I have to perfom?

Accepted Answer

No and no.  You will be on 'mute' whilst you playing but will hear just yourself and the tutor (Bridghe or Fin) playing together.  You will see everyone else playing along too but won't hear them.

Question 6

Am I expected to learn all the tunes?

Accepted Answer

You can learn as much or as little as you like.  You can learn all the tunes completely or just sight read as you go - depends on how much time you have available.  Either way the tunes should sink in over the course of the Winter as we will repeat them.

Will we get new sets or just be revising previous Far North repertoire?

Do I have to be able to play Smallpipes to join in?

Accepted Answer

No - in fact we encourage players of any instruments to come and join us.  You only need to know the pipe scale (nine notes!) and have a love of pipe tunes.  Accompanists are welcome too but our focus in on melody playing and we don't supply manuscripts with chord suggestions.

What happens if I miss a session?

We will record all the sessions and send each one to you following the live meet up so that you can catch up in your own time.

Question 10

What Equipment do I need for the best results?

Accepted Answer

Headphones so you can balance the sound of your own instrument with the pipes coming from Zoom.   LAN cable to go from your Router to your computer, as WIFI signal comes and goes. These usually come with your router or can be bought cheaply.....HIGHLY recommended
