Following 15 years in ecotourism and conservation in Brazil as CEO of Parque das Aves, a bird park and sanctuary in the Atlantic Rainforest, Carmel has returned to her Manx roots taking up her current role this July.
Carmel is passionate about creating synergies between people and nature, and will share insights from transforming Parque das Aves into both a major ecotourism attraction welcoming over 900,000 visitors a year and a conservation hub for critically endangered species.
Carmel will also highlight how Manx Wildlife Trust and Biosphere partnerships are working with organisations and industry to align conservation, the economy, and community for mutual benefit.
