Ever wondered what really happens on a farm? Join us for a guided walk at Upper Meend Farm where you’ll have the chance to step into the fields, meet the animals, and hear how farming is changing in response to the climate crisis.
As we wander through the fields, we’ll explore big questions in an accessible way: How does farming affect the climate? Can animals and nature live alongside food production? What does “sustainable farming” actually look like in practice?
Along the route we’ll stop to talk about soil, wildlife, hedgerows, water and livestock – and how each plays a role in tackling climate change. You’ll hear how farmers are finding practical solutions, from building healthy soils that store carbon, to planting trees and creating ponds for nature and flood protection.
You don’t need to know anything about farming – just bring your curiosity! Sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather is advised. It’s a great day out in the fresh air, and a chance to discover how farms, food and the environment are all connected.
Tea, coffee and cake will be provided after the walk. And to round off your visit, the Silver Circle Distillery, which is based right here on the farm, will be open after the walk – so why not pop by for a browse and a taste? www.silvercircledistillery.com/
