About this event

FASD Supports and Strategies for Teachers

Join the education advisers from Adoption UK Scotland for a session exploring supports and strategies teachers and support assistants can use in schools when working with a young person with suspected or diagnosed FASD.

Many learners face a range of additional challenges at school, which are often misinterpreted as behavioural issues. This can mean additional support is directed towards managing behaviour rather than supporting underlying needs and abilities.

This session will focus on reframing behaviour as symptoms of fasd and explore practical strategies and tools to support and equip staff in schools supporting children and young people with suspected FASD.

Target audience

The target audience for this event is anyone working in schools who supports or teaches children or young people with diagnosed or suspected FASD.

Organised by

FASD Hub Scotland is a tiered support service for all parents and carers (adoptive and biological parents, kinship and foster carers) of children and young people who have been affected - or may have been - by prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE). This prenatal exposure to alcohol can lead to a condition called fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). FASD Hub Scotland is funded by the Scottish Government, hosted and managed by Adoption UK in Scotland.

If you are a parent or carer for someone with PAE/FASD, or a professional working with a family, you can access our Helpline Tuesday-Friday, 10am-2.30pm, by calling 0300 666 0006 (select option 2).
