Description
As the second largest fashion retailer in the world, sustainability isn’t the first word that comes to mind when talking about the H&M group. It is however, a huge drive at the company, with enormous goals set out, such as becoming entirely circular by the year 2030. The question is, can a fast fashion business ever be truly sustainable?
Join us for a deep dive on what exactly this means with Anna Gedda, head of sustainability at the group, which owns the H&M brand as well as the likes of COS, & Other Stories, Arket and more. We’ll explore why being more sustainable makes business sense, just how this sits alongside constantly peddling new wares, and what the company is pushing from an innovation perspective to get there.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Anna Gedda was appointed Head of Sustainability at H&M in January 2015 and also became a member of the company’s executive management team. Anna led the work on the H&M group's new sustainability strategy launched in 2016. The strategy includes the ambition for the H&M group to only use 100% recycled or other sustainably sourced materials by 2030 and to become climate positive throughout the value chain by 2040. Before taking over as Head of Sustainability at H&M, Anna held different roles at the H&M Sustainability Department from 2008 onwards, including Social Sustainability Program Developer and Social Sustainability Manager. Anna, with a background at the Ministry of Finance, holds a Master’s degree in Political Science and a Bachelor degree in Business and Economics.
