About this event

The answers to these two questions are many, and they are the heart of the program entitled ‘Great Fundraising’ recently introduced by Philanthropy and Fundraising North America (PFNA.)
If you have never heard of us, that is no surprise. We were only formed in 2019. However, we were formed by a very heavyweight fundraising team – Kyla Shawyer, Tina Hudgins, Geoff Peters – all from the USA - and Alan Clayton from Scotland. We are joined by and underpinned by the work of Professor Adrian Sargeant and his team.
The academic team studied many organizations to answer the two questions above and reported in 2013. Since then, Alan and his teams have been putting the learnings to work with over 350 clients (and their agency suppliers) around the world, including some in North America, with impressive results. A huge amount of extra money has been raised by nonprofits representing all types of causes in many countries and cultures.
To summarize the outcomes, the ‘Great Fundraising Organization’ succeeds through a behavioral blend, exquisitely combining:
- Evidence based, rigorous and logical analysis, planning and structures.
- Emotional excellence in leadership of the organization and its donor communications.
It’s not just the fundraising team which needs to excel at these – it’s whole of the organization from the board through the leadership team to the front line that needs to master the seemingly contradictory but in fact absolutely complimentary skillsets.
And here’s the rub – who provides training in getting the two to work together? Who provides the inspiration to turn knowledge into action and results? Who provides the behavioral design co-creative seminars and processes to get the whole organization aligned and pulsing behind the fundraising drive chain?
Well nobody did. Until now.
