Event description

Description

This workshop will support the introduction of the new pre-eclampsia test and the ambition for it to be rolled out across the West Midlands. This has already occurred in the Oxford Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) area, and the event will explore the evidence behind it.

This event is being supported by Roche Diagnostics Limited and the West Midlands AHSN. Other AHSNs are also currently working on implementation plans.

This afternoon event will comprise a presentation by Manu Vatish, the UK lead for the PROGNOSIS international pre-eclampsia study, lead for the ASPRE UK-based study for implementation and supporting clinician at Oxford AHSN. Manu will discuss what this means for our current practice and how it will enable better identification of appropriate women for hospitalisation and those who can be safely sent home. Manu will also explore what impact that this will have on the women themselves.

Other studies are ongoing, looking at further utility for the test.

The event is suitable for obstetrics and gynaecological consultants, particularly those responsible for high risk pregnancies or hypertension in pregnancy, Heads of Midwifery, midwives in acute and community settings, Specialist Midwives for hypertension and pre-eclampsia, clinical directors and appropriate laboratory leads.
