We're proud to announce that FastForward is coming back bigger & better in 2017, returning to the Muziekgebouw on 23-24 February 2017. To celebrate, we're launching this next conference at our FFWD Social III, at digital music services company 7digital on Thursday August 18.
In keeping with the trend of panel discussion + networking, we'll be bringing some of the sharpest minds in the industry to discuss the uses, applications, and issues around Data & Tech in Music. There will be a host of engaging content and special announcements jam-packed into the evening, topped off with drinks nearby.

Data & Tech in Music
Music and technology are now closer than ever before. From a decades-long period where the traditional music industry rallied against development and innovation in the digital sphere, we are now in a space where new trends and applications of technology in music are (mostly) accepted and slowly adopted industry-wide. As a result of this, data is more abundant than ever, to the point of confusion and suffocation. Technology companies working in the music space (Apple Music, Spotify, Google/YouTube, Deezer, and specialists like Music Metric, Next Big Sound, Aloompa, SongKick, NumberEight) are tracking & presenting data that was never previously available, but collecting in such a way to provide access to millions and billions of data points every day, week and month.
Questions are now much more complex, developing from ‘will it sell?’ and ‘did it sell?’ to ‘how many time did someone listen?’, ‘when were they listening?’, ‘where?’, ‘which songs were before and after?’ and importantly ‘why?’ – with not all of the data sources being complimentary or saying the same thing. Our expert panel, covering various aspects of the music industry engaging daily with data and technology, will be discussing the practical applications of data, developments in technology and their impacts, cutting through the noise to find key insights, and attempting to humanize an often overwhelming subject.
