Event description

Description

Fastlaners is a FREE full time 8 day programme for 18- 25 year olds. The 8 days are Monday- Thursday 11th- 21st September 2017 and take a whole person approach to gaining and maintaining meaningful employment.

TOP 5 REASONS ‘FASTLANERS’ IS THE PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR YOU!

1) You’ll learn from accomplished professionals who are experts in their field:
60% of the programme is taught by Birmingham based professionals who don’t just talk the talk but sprint the walk. You’ll learn from influential speakers such as Suzie Branch – Director of Business Professional Services Birmingham, Errol Lawson- Coach, published author and city leader for Dent Global and Scott Southwell from Alpha Resourcing recruitment firm.

2) Access to exclusive business venues:
Each day of the programme takes place in a different exclusive business venue within Birmingham city centre. This September we’ll be based at Bauer Media- Free Radio, West Midlands Fire Service HQ, Barclays Eagle Lab in iCentrum and many more.

3) 1-2-1 mock interview and assessment centre from a business leader:
Get over your job interview nerves and receive some solid, practical feedback from a professional business leader. You’ll learn tips and techniques on how to answer concisely whilst delivering your unique personality.

4) We don’t just do the usual employability workshops:
We’re about more than CVs, covering letters and interview technique. At Fastlaners we look at developing all the skills needed to gain, maintain and excel within your chosen career. You’ll learn how and where to network, how to safely set up your own business, how to manage your money, coping strategies for those times when nothing feels like it’s going to plan, how to deliver public presentations so people listen and more.

5) You’ll be matched with a peer mentor and staff mentor for 3 months after the programme:
The benefits of having a mentor are well known within employment. When M&S noticed that a high proportion of graduates were resigning after finishing their programme they implemented a mentoring scheme. It involved senior managers mentoring recent graduates and it resulted in a 70% drop in graduate resignations and an increase in internal appointments to senior roles. Having a mentor can help you gain practical advice, encouragement and support. It can increase your social and academic confidence and help you develop strategies for dealing with both personal and academic issues.
