Fatherland: Chorus of Others Sunday Workshop
Join the Chorus Of Others
Be a part of Fatherland
Do you want to take part in an extraordinary theatre project? Would you like to learn new skills from some of the country’s most creative people?
If the answer is yes, and you’re male aged 18+ from Greater Manchester then this is your invitation to join our Chorus Of Others, an integral part of Fatherland – a new commission for MIF17.
You’ll work with two of the show’s co-creators – Karl Hyde from Underworld and Scott Graham from Frantic Assembly – and a vocal coach on a programme of new material before performing at the Royal Exchange Theatre throughout the Festival. You don’t need to read music or have any previous singing experience – just come along and let your voice be heard.
Interested? Sign up for an introductory workshop session where you’ll meet the creative team, take part in some group vocal work and learn more about getting involved in the production.
Commissioned and produced by Manchester International Festival, Frantic Assembly, the Royal Exchange Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith and LIFT.
If I am selected to join the Chorus Of Others what is the time commitment required?
If you’re selected, you’ll need to commit to:
• One meet and greet event (evening of 22 May)
• Six rehearsals (mainly weekday evenings in May/June)
• One technical rehearsal & one dress rehearsal (June)
• Up to 14 performances (various dates, 1–22 July)
This is a voluntary commitment - reimbursement of travel receipts will be made up to maximum of £8 per participant. Light refreshments will be provided at all sessions.
Is the workshop an audition? What will happen at it?
Yes it is an audition but you will not need to prepare anything in advance. It will take the form of a workshop. You will do some warm up and teamwork activities to see how you work with others. There will be some vocal work as part of a group.
I cannot make the workshop dates on 29 & 30 April can I still audition?
The workshop forms a critical part of the process and is currently the only way of being considered to join the Chorus of Others. For those that cannot make these dates but are still very keen to get involved please email email@example.com to register your interest and we will be back in touch should a further opportunity arise.
I am under 18 years old, can I still take part?
You must be 18 at the time of the performances. If you are 17 at the time of attending the workshop but will turn 18 before the performances, you will still be considered.
I have specific access needs, can I still take part?
Yes. Please state what your access needs are and how we can support you when you sign up to a workshop. All workshops, rehearsals and performances will take place in wheelchair accessible areas. If you have any specific questions or want to find out more please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.
