Fatigue and energy management - for palliative and other conditions 4Dec25
Overview
This online workshop is aimed at occupational therapists and other allied health professionals, nurses, and others working in the caring professions.
The interactive session introduces and builds on interventions for approaching fatigue for clients with a variety of conditions, including palliative care and end of life. We consider differences in approach required for people with deteriorating conditions as opposed to people living with, and recovering from, conditions such as Long Covid and post cancer treatments.
Fatigue is a whole-person experience. This event considers physical, cognitive, social and emotional factors and interventions for fatigue management and energy conservation. Importantly we will consider how people's emotional response to the situation, values and self-identity affect behaviour and motivation to engage with interventions.
We also consider some of the more complex psychological and emotional factors not always included in other courses, such as threat response and inner safety, to ensure we consider the whole person within this debilitating symptom.
This online workshop will be facilitated by Mara Sheldon and a Zoom link will be sent closer to the event date. Please note - each attendee requires a separate ticket.
A major aim of Mara's is to highlight the mind-body connection and the importance of treating the whole person.
