About this event

Are you a farmer who is interested in workplace fatigue and in advice on how to tackle it? Then join us for a FREE short webinar and for your chance to ask questions! This event is organised by NTSAg (University of Aberdeen) together with the Farm Safety Foundation.

This free webinar gives you the opportunity to learn more about NTSAg research on fatigue in agriculture and offers practical advice on how to manage it. Fatigue is a big issue in farming and it can be very bad for your safety. Working long hours, lack of sleep, high workload - all of these factors which are very common in agriculture can lead to fatigue. When you are fatigued, you may not have such a clear picture of what is going on around you, which can put yourself and others at risk. Thankfully, there are things which can be done to manage it. Our research group at the University of Aberdeen led by Dr. Amy Irwin, NTSAg, has been studying fatigue in agriculture to explore its impact on farmer safety and ways to manage it and we now want to share our findings with you.

This session will include a brief introduction of fatigue by Stephanie Berkeley, Manager of the Farm Safety Foundation, who are running Farm Safety Week every year. This will be followed by a short presentation of fatigue research and practical tips on how to manage fatigue delivered by 2nd year PhD student Ilinca-Ruxandra Tone. Ilinca's first-year project focused on the impact of fatigue and stress on farmer situation awareness (the mental picture of what is going on) and safety. There will be time to ask questions at the end of the session.

All welcome!
