About the session: Virtual Dinner Party - Urbanisation of the European Dinner
How our urban populations interact with food in the current food system deeply influences and disconnects our perceptions of the origins of edible matter. The urbanisation of the European Dinner post-industrialisation has completely turned our relationship with 'real' food on its head. Does coffee grow ready to be an eye-catchy cappuccino? Or do Pineapples grow on trees, year-round ready to be pureed and served over dessert?
- Depending on your time of day, we invite you to bring a suitable meal to the Roundtable.
- Cook ahead of time, before you log in to Zoom.
- The food you choose to bring can be anything, but must represent your idea of a popular city dinner, and should be effortlessly available to cook/eat.
- We encourage you to follow your own traditional eating/dining rituals irrespective of social norms.
- Please take the time to inform yourself in advance about the ingredients that you have chosen so that you can share the information and some fun facts.
- Keep an open mind to other participants’ ways of eating so that everyone is comfortable.
- Don’t worry if you are running late and still cooking when you dial in - it happens to everybody 😉
- You are welcome to join in from anywhere in the world, you don't have to be currently based in Europe to participate.
