Event description

Description

We're thrilled to invite you to celebrate our 5th birthday as we honour our fearless journey so far!

Why?

Some of you have already begun your inclusion journey with us.

Some of you may not know how to take that next step.

Some of you may be curious about learning how others are challenging the roots of inequities.

For these reasons and many more (many, many more) we want to take this opportunity to bring us all together to celebrate our journeys so far, and what is yet to come.

With (hopefully) a warm summer evening of enlightening conversations, an exhilarating taster workshop and enlightening mingling... Let's share our experiences and build new relationships with people working to actively challenge inequity in their homes, teams and organisations.

When?

19th September 2019

Where?

Cafe Deli, Canalot Studios, 222 Kensal Road, Westbourne Park, London, W10 5BN

The Plan

18:00-18:30 - Welcome drinks and nibbles

18:30-18:50 - Our Founder & CEO Hanna Naima Mccloskey will share her journey as an entrepreneur and educator in a fireside chat with Bilal Harry Khan

19:00-19:25 - In Conversation: our Chief Programmes Officer, Sara Shahvisi, with a panel of graduates of our programmes (to be announced)

19:45-20:15 - Taster workshop

19:45-21:00 - Open mingling

21:00 - Hometime

What else?

Journeys are more powerful together than alone and so we invite you to bring a friend, colleague or family member who wants to make a difference in their organisation so they can learn from others who have started doing the hard work.

Contribution

In the spirit of equity and inclusion, if you are able, please use the "Donation" option to support our work in UK schools. We suggest £25, though any amount is welcome. All donations will go towards supporting our Peer Power Programmes in schools.

Accessibility information

  • Wheelchair users who use non-electric / non-power wheelchairs can enter the main entrance to the venue (on Kensal Road) with a stair lift, up to a weight limit of 225kg, which we regret is non self-operable at present. The staff at reception assist with use of the stair lift.

  • For power wheelchair users, there is a door to the right of the main entrance to the venue (on Kensal Road) that can be used for step free access by ramp. Please note the ramp is steep and can be slippery when wet. This side access is not a pre-designated wheelchair access point (as it is primarily a loading bay) and does not have a bell. To use this entrance please email us (events@fearlessfutures.org) so we can come to meet you and welcome you in.

  • We apologise that the building is disableist at present and recognise the harm for our disabled colleagues and friends. We are agitating management to change this.

  • Gender neutral toilets are on the ground floor by the cafe and the third floor (accessible by lift).

  • Accessible toilets are on the third floor and ground floor (through the cafe) and unfortunately the fob for these toilets is secured by asking reception - a policy we are working to change.

  • There is a small living room / relaxation room attached to our studio (separated by a door) which can be used as a respite space or a worship space for participants during the event.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
