FED is a monthly supper club at Phillies of Shawlands, serving contemporary Sri Lankan food with a modern twist. Think small plates, bold flavours, and dishes designed for sharing.

What’s on the menu?

The menu changes every month — that’s part of the fun. It always includes a mix of proteins (chicken, lamb, seafood, or jackfruit), vegetable dishes, and plenty of sides like sambol, roti, and rice. We keep it balanced, flavourful, and seasonal.

How is it different from a normal restaurant night?

FED runs more like an event than a restaurant service. Guests are seated at the same time, food comes out in waves, and I (Rukshan) introduce each part of the menu to the room. It feels more like a communal dinner party than a restaurant sitting.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes — FED nights usually sell out in advance. Tickets are booked online, and there aren’t walk-ins on the night.

We take allergies seriously and provide allergen information for every dish. Please let us know when booking so we can plan accordingly.

Do I have to eat with my hands?

Not at all — cutlery is always available. But we encourage hand-eating because it’s part of Sri Lankan hospitality and makes the food feel even more communal and fun.

How long does the supper club last?

About two hours. It’s paced out with waves of food, time for conversation, and a relaxed ending.

Drinks are not included in the ticket price, but the Phillies team will have a great range of beers, wines, cocktails, Bespoke mocktails and soft drinks available on the night.

Sometimes, yes — it changes monthly. It could be something traditional like wattalapam (a spiced coconut custard) or something lighter and playful like sorbet with a spice twist.

FED is designed as an adult dining experience. Older kids are welcome if they’re adventurous eaters, but the format may not suit younger children.
