Feed, Flock & Future: The Forage for CH4nge Findings
Overview
How Heritage Breeds and Pasture Choices Shape Low-Impact Sheep Farming
Join us at Wensleydale Rugby Club as the Project Team shares a sneak preview of their findings from the Forage for CH4nge project and what they could mean for upland sheep farming.
Led by Wensleydale farmer Adrian Thornton-Berry, this project measured methane emissions from 120 sheep grazing three pasture types: improved grassland, species-rich grassland, and regenerating moorland.
At this workshop, you’ll hear how Swaledale sheep shape forage dynamics, support biodiversity, and drive sustainable upland grazing systems. Discover the ecological and practical benefits of key forage species, learn how grazing behaviour interacts with pasture composition, and take-home insights to inform your own farming practice.
Key findings from methane tests and vegetation surveys will be shared, giving attendees a first look at the project’s findings and implications for sustainable sheep farming.
The Project Team will be on hand to discuss the project and share insights - all grounded in real farm experience. It will be your chance to discuss the next steps for the project.
And yes, there’s a complimentary hot supper to keep everyone fuelled while we dig into the discussion!
