Event description

Feel Good Volunteering

Tutor: Ellie Lee

£35.00 each (including a DBS check)

With expert advice from Ellie from the Cambridge Volunteer Centre, you will learn about the different aspects of volunteering - from benefits to health and well-being of the individual to the wider benefits to the community. This 3 session, 15 hour course includes a real-life opportunity to volunteer at our Enchanted Days Christmas event. All materials needed for the sessions are included but learners should be able to find their own way to Milton Country Park on the 10th December.

Session 1- 6/12/16 10am - 3pm An introduction to volunteering. Expectations, communications and purpose. We will also look at safeguarding, health and safety and volunteering contracts.

Session 2-  10/12/16 10am - 3pm Enchanted Days Christmas event. A real-life opportunity to volunteer at children's workshops. There will be many opportunities available from taking photographs to gate management to money handling. Please see our Enchanted Days page on our website here: http://gaplearning.co.uk/wp/enchanted-days/

Session 3- 13/12/16 10am - 3pm Reflection and consolidation of things learnt at the event to identify skills gaps. Next steps - where can I go from here?

We believe your volunteering time is precious and we're here to help you make the most of it!

The Feel Good Making workshops include mindfulness techniques and well-being activities, giving you time to discover, find meaning and be mindful. Join us in the lovely Cambridgeshire town of St Neots from 10am to 3pm at Loves Farm House. The bright and airy studio is perfect for making and parking is free! Make a day of it - there are many great teashops for a slice of cake in the town afterwards with good shops and places to visit such as the Riverside Park and St Neots Museum.

The Enchanted Days event is held at Milton Country Park. You can find information and directions to the park here: http://www.miltoncountrypark.org/info/

Group sizes are small and friendly with only four families per workshop. Here's some things people have said about our workshops -

"I enjoyed meeting people and working within a group"

"Very enjoyable, friendly and relaxed"

"I would recommend as it's a wholesome experience where you get to be expressive through arts"

GAP Learning - designs, creates and educates. Sisters and co-founders Teresa Crickmar and Amanda Page run a programme of creative and practical community learning courses and workshops throughout Cambridgeshire. Our aim is to promote positive change for those living through difficult circumstances. As a social enterprise we sell a range of products from craft & cooking to wedding workshops, Craftworks Rocks fundraising magnets and run community events.
Love’s Farm House aspires to be a place of connection, cohesion and belonging, where neighbours become friends, residents become a community and everyone can be part of the story.
