Event Details

We are very pleased to confirm that the next FEIFA Masterclass Seminar will be held in Prague on Wednesday 15th November 2017, venue and details to be confirmed.

This event is for advisers and staff of FEIFA-member firms. If you are not such an individual but wish to attend please contact us.

As always, the presentations will be professional development sessions, not product pushes. It will be a genuine training and educational seminar in keeping with past Masterclasses, and will last for about 3 hours. We are able to issue FEIFA CPD certificates to our members for this event.

The subject matter will be highly relevant and timely - and, as in the past, will cover major industry and market issues. The following companies will be presenting at this event:

Blackrock: “The case for Factor Investing”

BlackRock will be exploring factor investing and how these strategies can help meet your clients’ portfolio objectives. The term may be unfamiliar, but the concepts behind it aren’t new at all - institutional investors and active managers have been using factors to manage portfolios for decades. This presentation will explain the different types of factors and why they can help drive returns - and consider the different ways that you can access them for your clients.

GAM: “Active management in the current economic environment”

The recent market environment has certainly been more challenging for active managers but some of the cyclical challenges seem to be passing and the momentum behind rising global equity markets and higher bond yields is beginning to ebb. It is, therefore, important to augment portfolio performance by using active management. In this presentation GAMwill look at the areas where, structurally, active manages have an advantage over passive, and also show examples of how portfolios can often take exposure to the broad market via low-cost instruments.

Old Mutual International: “The Politics of Pensions”

This session will examine the outstanding UK guidance and consultation that will shape the pension transfer market in the coming years, from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Her Majesty’s Treasury (HMT). It will also consider the most up to date threats, weaknesses and opportunities in the defined benefits space.

PortfolioMetrix: "How we doubled our revenue in 2 years by outsourcing the investment proposition”

Marc Westlake is a Chartered and Certified Financial Planner and registered Trust and Estate Practitioner, as well as being Managing Director of PortfolioMetrix Ireland. He has been an IFA since 1994 and moved to Ireland from the UK in 2008 where he started a Wealth Management business from scratch. A subsequent management buyout and a decision to outsource to a Centralised Investment Proposition have been two of the most significant business decisions in his 25 years in Financial Services – he will explain why, and what lessons can be learned for all advisers.

Quilter Cheviot: “Are we living in the longest bull market in history”

The present equity bull market has been running for over 8 years and has given investors a Sterling total return of over 266% so far.  In this presentation Quilter Cheviot will examine the chances that in a year’s time it will break the record to become the longest bull market in history.  Or will the gradual monetary tightening we are seeing from some major central banks erode investor and consumer confidence causing a recession and major market reversal?

Registration will open at 09:30am with tea and coffee available. The presentations themselves will run from 10:00am to approximately 1:00pm with a complimentary lunch to follow.

The event has been designed for the requirements of the advisers and support staff of our member firms based in the region. We therefore hope that you will be able to support it and look forward to seeing you at the Seminar.
