Female Fashions Part 2: A social history of a century of fashion
Event Information
About this Event
Looking at the history of female fashions from 1919 to 1970 , this hour-long talk with Q&A will focus on everyday fashions from places including Northampton, drawing on 40 years of Sharn Matthews’ experience with museum costume collections across the country.
Tracing styles from bustles to mini dresses each new fashion has been reflected in the clothes people wore at home and for special occasions. Preserved in museum collections across the country, surviving examples give us a glimpse into past lives and the changing world their wearers lived in.
