Description

To mark International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM, the National FGM Centre is hosting a seminar with leading experts to explore the medical aspects of FGM, the medical challenges of identifying FGM and implications for the law.

There will be fantastic speakers throughout including:

  • Dr Deborah Hodes (Paediatrician)
  • Zimran Samuel (Doughty Street Chambers Barrister)
  • Ngianga-Bakwin Kandala (Northumbria University Lecturer)
  • and more TBC.

Topic that will be covered include:

  • Increased medicalisation of FGM and implications for the law
  • FGM around the world
  • Medical examinations of girls to determine FGM (UK Perspective)
  • and more TBC.

We will also have young people from Savera exhibiting their art work on the day. Savera UK is UK a charity organisation, tackling domestic abuse and harmful practices within BME communities, the charity can work across the UK depending on funding available.
