Three thousand years ago a remarkable individual took to the throne of Egypt, and over a period of twenty years led significant culture and political achievement.
This was the royal princess and king’s wife Hatshepsut. By coming to the throne as a woman, Hatshepsut defied over one thousand years of traditional male rule.
In this course we will explore the life and times of this remarkable woman and consider the ways in which she overcame the powerful conventions of her day, which has led to her going down in history as one of Egypt’s successful ancient rulers.
