You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. People who attend usually wear leggings and a t-shirt/jumper, trainers are the best due to the nature of the activity.

Do I need previous experience?

No previous experience is necessary. You do not need any level of fitness. This is ideal for beginners. This is not martial arts, this is female only self defence.
