This is an online interactive + informative workshop where we explore the place of Feminism in counselling and therapy.

About this event

Why is Feminism relevant to counselling and therapy?

Being a feminist therapist or counsellor means something different to everyone! Essentially feminist counselling encourages us as Therapists to examine our world view. It can be really important to challenge the belief that white, heteronormative, cisgender, able-bodied experiences of the world are the societal 'norm'.

During this workshop, we will discuss what we understand of Feminism, what biases might affect our work, and how an "Intersectional Feminist" approach can be beneficial to clients of ALL backgrounds and identities. (Intersectionality is the process of understanding how different systems of oppression 'intersect' to affect a client's lived experience of the world.)

Other issues we will explore together are:

What does it mean to work in a Feminist way and why is it important?

Why is Intersectionality important?

How do Feminist principles affect our understanding of client's suffering?

This workshop will be held via Zoom, all ticket holders will receive the link the day before the workshop. If you have any access needs please contact the organiser.

All participants will be given a 3 hour CPD certificate.
