Event description

Description

Birmingham Women’s Strike assembly warmly invite you to our Feminist Free School, a space where women, trans and non-binary people and all other genders can come together to learn about feminism and build anti-patriarchal autonomy in an informal and accessible environment.

Education about feminism needs to take place outside of the academy with the people who need it the most. We want to discuss practical issues that face all women and trans people today. We want to learn together and educate ourselves. We want to build a feminist movement in Birmingham and share our collective knowledge and skills. We want to build a better world.

The day will consist of three workshops (additional workshops may be added at a later date), breaks for food and drink and chatting and will conclude with some information about how get involved with Birmingham Women’s Strike and help organise towards International Women’s Day on March 8th 2018.

The workshops we have confirmed so far will be:

- Why is Housework work? A workshop led by Camille Barbagallo (University of Keele)

- The Abortions Rights Movement of the UK. A workshop led by Pam Lowe (Aston University)

- Patients Not Passports. Workshop facilitator is a Doctor working for the NHS and a member of Docs Not Cops.

There will be free childcare for anyone who needs it. Please let us know if you require childcare in advance if possible by e-mailing feministactionbrum@riseup.net

The venue is only accessible up one small step from the street. Sadly, the toilets are located next door at the Old Print Works down a small flight of stairs and have narrow stalls. The toilets are all gender neutral.
