Fen Rhythm of Earth Education. Session 2: Skills of Our Ancestors
Overview
Our event series is designed as a gentle unfolding — each gathering deepening children’s connection with nature, ancestry, craft, and themselves. Children are welcome to join any single session, but together they form a powerful seasonal journey of remembering. These events are educational, we learn together and cover all aspects of the national curriculum without using traditional classroom style lessons.10.30am to 2.30pm
🔥 Session 2: Skills of Our Ancestors
Traditional Craft • Handwork • Heritage
This session introduces lost and nearly-lost skills that once sustained communities: cordage making, whittling, natural fibres, simple tool use.
Children experience the satisfaction of creating something with their hands — patiently, creatively, and with respect for the materials and the traditions behind them.
This session is held on Mondays and Fridays starting March 2026, if you want to avoid the eventbrite fees you can pay direct, please email fenzenretreats@outlook.com

Fen Rhythm of Earth Education — Event Series
Reconnecting with Land, Lineage & Lost Skills
Join us for a series of earth-based, soul-deep learning experiences designed to bring children — (and their adults) — back into relationship with the land, their ancestry, and themselves.
At Fen Rhythm of Earth Education, we believe learning begins beneath our feet. Our sessions offer powerful opportunities for young people to step away from screens and step into presence: to explore, create, remember and reconnect. Each gathering is rooted in nature, cultural heritage, and the wisdom of traditional skills that once sustained our communities.
What We Do:
We guide children (and families) into rich, hands-on experiences that awaken curiosity, confidence, and belonging. Through land-based skills, sensory exploration, and ancestral learning, participants discover:
- Earthen crafts and traditional techniques passed down through generations
- Rewilding skills and natural awareness
- Stories and cultural practices from our shared heritage
- Seasonal rhythms and cycles that help us feel at home in the world
- Community connection, cooperation, and gentle resilience
- A sense of purpose that can’t be found on a device
Each session is a chance to remember who we are when we are in right relationship with the land: creative, capable, connected.
Why This Matters:
In a world of distractions and digital overwhelm, children need places where they can slow down, breathe, move, craft, explore, and be wholly themselves. Our events help restore lost skills and lost confidence, offering pathways to groundedness and identity.
We believe that when children learn from the land, they discover not only old ways of living — but new ways of being.
Who This Is For:
Families, children, home-educating communities, and anyone seeking earth-rooted learning, ancestral reconnection, and experiences that nourish resilience and belonging. This is a stay session for children but we are aware that some children prefer an adult to stay so we welcome that too.
