Event description

Description

The first ship was launched from the Newark slipway in 1780 and Ferguson’s founded on the same site in 1903. The new buildings of Ferguson marine were constructed between 2015 and 2017 and designed by Canata & Seggie and Sunax Design & Build Ltd.

Just under £26 million has been invested in rebuilding Ferguson Marine, now one of the most advanced shipyards in the world, currently building two of the UK’s first ever Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) ferries and officially on the roster for building the next generation of Royal Navy ships.

A full presentation on the history and development of the new Ferguson Marine and film on the Rebirth of the Clyde will be followed by a tour of the shipyard.

As a working shipyard where safety is paramount, we regret this venue is not suitable for anyone with mobility restrictions and disabled access is not available. All visitors must be 16+. Hard hat and safety glasses will be supplied. Hard, flat shoes must be worn – (leather hiking boots ideal). We regret, visitors wearing High heels or soft shoes eg trainers, fabric etc. cannot be permitted on the yard tour.
