What Next for the UN? Building a More Secure World Conference
Welcome to the final afternoon of our UN75 festival! The conference starts at 14:30 BST with feedback from our week's workshops leading to the launch of Actions for Building a More Secure World.
At 17:15 BST, the second half of the conference will open with messages from the UN and UK government, before UNA-UK present their Sir Brian Urquhart Award to Zeinab Badawi, BBC journalist and long-standing advocate for a more open, inclusive and effective UN . This is followed by an expert panel considering The Future We Want; The UN We Need. Panellists include Her Excellency Maria Fernanda Espinosa; Lord Mark Malloch-Brown; Nisreen Elsaim; and Mandeep Tiwana.
Once you have registered for this event, you can join at any time.
Registration for this event will close at 13:00 BST, one and a half hours before the event starts, in order for you to be emailed a link to join the event.
If you want to register after that time, please follow the instructions below.
Follow this link (any time from 14:30 BST) to take you to the conference (and the concert which follows it).
The platform we are using is Airmeet, which is browser-based. This works in all major browsers, but is best experienced on Chrome (which can be downloaded free onto any of your devices). To avoid interference, do have only one browser open. If you get a ‘your device is not supported’ or ‘your browser is not supported’ message when you join the event, select the ‘Join in Lite Mode’ option.
On the event page, click on ‘Enter Airmeet’. You will be asked to enter some additional information. This will help the speakers and fellow participants know a little bit about you. All fields are required, but if you don’t want to share some information just enter ‘NA’.
On entering the event you may be asked to share your camera and microphone. You do not have to do this as we will not be asking attendees onto the screen. If you do share your camera and microphone, be assured that this will not be shared or viewed by anyone.
The event is also being live streamed here.
If you have quality issues and want to watch the first part of the concert (which follows on from this conference, at 19:15 BST) in High Definition, please visit here
For the final part of the concert, we'll facilitate an intergenerational dialogue. Details of how to join this discussion will be made clear on the above link, but in case you need it, you'll be able to join through this link
The event is being recorded and will be available for viewing (via www.WhatNext4UN.org) soon.
