About this event

A special lunchtime music walking tour for the Sound of Belfast Festival. Come explore the heart of a great music city!

Belfast is alive with music! From punk to pop, trad to hip hop, jazz to electronic, classical to rock and more - hear stories of the people helping to make Belfast a great music city. In 90 minutes over lunchtime, come discover why Belfast deserves its prestigious UNESCO City of Music designation.

We will celebrate many of Belfast's best known musicians , including Van Morrison, Gary Lightbody and Snow Patrol, James Galway, Ruby Murray, Ottilie Patterson and more. But we will also highlight our many rising stars and those who have had recent success in the annual NI Music Prize awards. For example, Jordan Adetunji, Problem Patterns, Junk Drawer, Joshua Burnside, Huartan, Wood Burning Savages, Dani Larkin and more. This fun walk around the area close to the Oh Yeah Music Centre will be a good way to get in the mood for the 2025 NI Music Prize that takes place that evening.

And of course there'll be a specially curated music playlist along the way.

The tour starts from the foyer of the Oh Yeah Music Centre in Gordon Street and will end there too, giving you a chance to look around the fascinating collection of music memorabilia in its NI Music Exhibition.

This shorter music walking tour is part of the Sound of Belfast festival curated by the Oh Yeah Music Centre.
