Event description

Description

Festival Of Audacity is a multidisciplinary festival of activist art making Birmingham its stage from Thursday 18th - Saturday 20th July 2019

Join us as we take you on a journey throughout the city to discover brave, bold, and audacious art in spaces beyond traditional arts venues around Birmingham.

This is about bringing art activism to the people, to everyone, making it accessible and visible for all. This year we have artists dotted around the city in the least expected places; which will turn heads and allow everyone to experience art for change. It's especially important for young people to get the chance to see activist art and challenge the world, so we have free travel passes available for those aged between 16 - 30 years old.

Want to see everything we have planned? The primary way to experience the festival is to join us on a tour on either Friday 19th or Saturday 20th from 11:30pm til 5:30pm*, beginning at the 'Bull' at the Bullring. It's a guided walking trip led by BAIT through Birmingham City Centre with stops at each festival act as well as exclusive performances in between stops, and plenty of time to pause and rest when needed.

You can expect:
- A multi-artform artist line-up including spoken word theatre show "900 Club" and filmmaker & founder of 'LAMBB' Naomi Grant. Full line-up will be unveiled at our launch event on Thursday 9th May (which you're invited to btw)
- A guided tour, hosted by BAIT, a group of young art activists from Birmingham, supported by Free Radical
- Regular stops to pause, rest, snack and discuss the performances
- Most importantly, an incredible one of a kind experience, with national and regional art activists being brave, bold and audacious

Free Travel offer (16 - 30 year olds):
You spoke and we listened to everyone who shared at our Brum Youth Trends recent report and in response, we are offering free travel across Birmingham to young Festival goers (so exciting!) We want to give a big shoutout to our partners at Swift and Network West Midlands, who without them this offer would not be possible. When you book your place on the tour as long as you are aged between 16 - 30 and have ticked the "Additional Terms" box, you will receive your free Festival Swift weekend travel card in the post.

(Pre-loaded with £15.40, the card buys you and up to 4 friends 2 days of bus travel within the Network West Midlands area*. Just ask for a group ticket when you board the bus and hold the card to the reader to deduct the fare. Single, day and return tickets also available, visit our Ticket Finder for more info. Once your credit is used up, just top-up your card to continue to travel. Find our more at myswiftcard.com/topping-up

* Group travel valid for up to 5 adults when traveling together.)

Pack away your maps and let yourself be guided by artists, for artists. Explore art, discovering new mediums, and see the city differently.
