Inspired by the Sam Cooke songwhich captures the pain of racial injustice but also the determination and optimism required to change things for the better – A Change Is Gonna Come is a new anthology of BAME voices about converting hope into action, desire into intention. Four of the authors discuss the importance of change in contemporary Young Adult fiction. This stellar line up includes established writers Nikesh Shukla and Tanya Byrne (pictured) and debut authors Aisha Bushby and Yasmin Rahman.

Please ensure you use the correct email address. This is where your ticket will be sent. If you do not provide the correct address, you will not receive the acknowledgement email or ticket. You must bring your ticket with you to gain entry.

Due to the high number of no-shows for free events, we have limited the number of FREE tickets to 2 per booking to combat people booking tickets for guests and then not using them. If you require more than 2 free tickets, you can return to the booking page and log back in. We hope this extra effort will ensure tickets are booked by those who use them.

If you have booked a free ticket and can no longer attend, please let us know so it can be offered to someone else.

Please note we only refund paid tickets if the event is cancelled. Events start punctually and, out of consideration to other audience members and speakers, our policy is not to admit or issue refunds to latecomers.

Audience data will be shared with Waterstones. You may receive details of other events run by them.

The Festival of Ideas endeavours to hold its events in venues that are accessible to all, but if you have specific access concerns it is advisable to contact the venue direct. There is no loop system at Waterstones. There are toilet facilities in store.
