Description

Adam Rutherford
Darwin Day Lecture 2018: A Brief History of Everyone Who Ever Lived

Monday 12 Feburary 2018, 18:30-19:30
Reception Room, Wills Memorial Building
Free, but booking required

Since scientists first read the human genome in 2001 it has been subject to all sorts of claims, counterclaims and myths. In fact, Adam Rutherford explains, our genomes should be read not as instruction manuals, but as epic poems. DNA determines far less than we have been led to believe about us as individuals, but vastly more about us as a species.

He reveals what our genes now tell us about history and what history tells us about our genes. He discusses the spread of modern humans and explores who we are and how we came to be. Who were our ancestors and what does that mean for the future of the species?

In association with Bristol Humanists Association.

Booking opens at 09:00 on Monday 15 January 2018.

We have restricted the number of tickets that can be booked to one per transaction. This has been introduced in an effort to stop people automatically booking multiple tickets without confirming if they have guests to go with them. We hope this will help to limit the number of 'no shows' at the events, which currently run at around 35% of bookings. We will monitor the situation. If you need more than one ticket, you can click on the booking link again. The little extra effort involved will hopefully put off those who don’t really need more than one, but not those who do.

Please ensure you use the correct email address. This is where your ticket will be sent. If you do not provide the correct address, you will not receive the acknowledgement email or ticket.

We share audience data with University of Bristol. Please contact us if you would not like your data shared.
