Event description

Description

November 2019 marks the thirtieth anniversary of the breaching of the Berlin Wall. The building of new walls between countries is still being proposed, most notably by Donald Trump. The Narrative Research Group (NRG), published fiction-writers based at Edge Hill, are compiling an anthology of new work exploring the theme of walls, to be launched with a public reading.

They shall be joined by Chris Power, one of the shortlisted authors of this year’s Edge Hill Prize.

There will be four ten-minute readings of extracts from the anthology as well as a reading from the guest writer. During the event there will be opportunity for book signings and an audience Q&A.

This event will take place in The Rose Theatre at Edge Hill University’s Ormskirk Campus.

This is a FREE event, open to the public (registration is essential).

This event is part of Edge Hill University’s annual Festival of Ideas. Programmed by the University’s three Research Institutes – ISR, ICE and HRI – this year’s festival theme is Exchanges: Creativity, Community, Curiosity.

The exchange of ideas is the fuel of the knowledge and creative economy. Locally, nationally and internationally we are all involved in sharing concepts, swapping insights, and trading opinions. This year’s festival explores communication, reciprocity, and transactions in all areas, from policymaking to healthcare, social enterprise to cultural production.
