Description

Margo Jefferson
On Michael Jackson
Mon 2 July 2018, 19:00-20:00
Waterstones (Union Street entrance)
£8 / £6 / £4.50

£4.50 PARTNER RATE is for staff, students or members at the following organisations: Arts Council England, Bristol City Council, Business West, University of Bristol and UWE.

Winner of a Pulitzer Prize and author of the 2016 Baillie Gifford-shortlisted Negroland, Margo Jefferson has long been hailed for her ground-breaking writing on African-American culture. Now she explores the many guises of one of the great icons of the 20th century: Jackson the fallen celebrity, the descendent of the nineteenth century freak show; Jackson the talented kid from an abusive home; Jackson the little boy who couldn’t grow up; Jackson the gender-bending icon; and Jackson on trial, his last performance.

In the year Michael Jackson would have turned 60, and almost ten years on from his untimely death, Jefferson offers a dazzling dissection of the King of Pop and reflects on his legacy.

Please note that you will be asked of proof for your eligibility of a concession ticket. Concessions apply to Full Time Students, Job Seekers Allowance, Incapacity Benefit claimants, over 60s and disabled people. The Partner Rate applies to those working at the following organisations: Arts Council, Bristol City Council, Businesswest, University of Bristol and UWE. Please note that no refunds/exchanges are possible for tickets already purchased at the higher price.

Please ensure you use the correct email address. This is where your ticket will be sent. If you do not provide the correct address, you will not receive the acknowledgement email or ticket. Please show proof of ticket (either print out or on device) at the door.

Please note we only refund tickets if the event is cancelled. Events start punctually and, out of consideration to other audience members and speakers, our policy is not to admit or issue refunds to latecomers.
