Description

Tom Holland
Dominion
Tue 17 September 2019, 19:00-20:00
Waterstones (Union Street Entrance)
£8/£6/£4.50

£4.50 PARTNER RATE is for staff, students or members at the following organisations: Arts Council England, Bristol City Council, Business West, University of Bristol and UWE.

Tom Holland places the story of how we came to be what we are, and how we think the way that we do, in the broadest historical context. Ranging in time from the Persian invasion of Greece in 480 BC to the on-going migration crisis in Europe today, and from Nebuchadnezzar to the Beatles, he explores just what it was that made Christianity so revolutionary and disruptive; how completely it came to saturate the mind-set of Latin Christendom; and why, in a West that has become increasingly doubtful of religion's claims, so many of its instincts remain irredeemably Christian. Whether you are atheist, agnostic or believer in any faith, Holland’s argument could hardly be more topical.

Please note that you will be asked of proof for your eligibility of a concession ticket. Concessions apply to Full Time Students, Job Seekers Allowance, Incapacity Benefit claimants, over 60s and disabled people. The Partner Rate applies to those working at the following organisations: Arts Council, Bristol City Council, Businesswest, University of Bristol and UWE. Please note that no refunds/exchanges are possible for tickets already purchased at the higher price.

Please ensure you use the correct email address. This is where your ticket will be sent for your own record. If you do not provide the correct address, you will not receive the acknowledgement email or ticket. To save paper we ask that whenever possible you show your ticket on a mobile device. We have access to the live list at the venue and can check if you aren't able to use a mobile device on the night.
