Why do I need to get a ticket if the event is free?

The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a very popular service. For safety reasons we have a maximum capacity which we need to be able to manage.

Can I come to the service without a pre-booked ticket?

On each evening there will be a restricted number of places in the quire and neighbouring chapels for those who arrive without a ticket. However, once the maximum capacity is reached we will be unable to allow others to enter the cathedral. We therefore strongly advise you get a ticket in advance.

What are the timings for the evening?

The doors will open at 4pm. Everyone will need to be in their seats by 5.10pm for the service to start at 5.30pm

Is there parking nearby?

The nearest parking is in the St Mary Gate & Cathedral Car Park (by Sainsbury's). Onsite disabled parking is limited. Please ring the Chapter House on 01765 602072 to book.
