Festival of Philippine Culture & Heritage: MUSIC WORKSHOPS
Sun 23 October 2016, 14:00 – 17:00 BST
The venue has now been changed to St John's Church, Notting Hill, W11 2NN.
Do you do anything fun on Sundays? Do you want to learn how to write a song, or play your instrument whilst meeting new people?
If not, and you play an instrument or fancy yourself as a singer-songwriter, then join us at Kanlungan's FREE music workshops. Just 1 out of 5 workshops we are delivering in the Festival of Philippine Culture & Heritage to educate, inspire and bring young people of Filipino descent together.
In this series, you will have the opportunity to learn about the music history of the Philippines, jam with a group of new people, and be taught music skills by the prodigiously talented singer, songwriter and rapper from East London, artist |Anak|Ako|.
Depending on your level, the skills taught will include:
- instrument fluency
- live performance
This will be a loosely structured, fun workshop, but a lot of the content will depend on you and what you want to learn. By the end of the two sessions, you will have the skills to write your own song and/or be part of a band. You will then have the opportunity to showcase your talent in the end of year showcase in December!
For the chance to win a prize, you can take the skills and inspiration from this workshop to the end of year showcase exhibition in December! More information will be disclosed closer to the time.
*Due to the limited charitable aims of Kanlungan, priority places on this workshop will be given to young Filipino migrants, or descendants of Filipino migrants. Please bare this in mind as places are limited.
