Join us for a stunning view of the night sky in the ultra dark village of Keld in Upper Swaledale. This event is part of the Dark Sky Festival and we'll take you on a magical tour using powerful telescopes and binoculars to spy distant galaxies and sparkling star clusters. There will also be colourful talks to set the scene in the resource centre and warm refreshments and biscuits.

Yorkshire Dales International Dark Sky Reserve
The Dales is one of the darkest national parks in England and Keld is a stunning vantage point to admire the heavens. The dark sky reserve extends for over 2,000 square kilometers and Keld sits in the darkest core.
Your guide
Astronomer Richard Darn helped the Dales achieve its dark sky distinction and did likewise for Northumberland and the North York Moors. He was involved in the launch the Kielder Observatory and advises landscapes on dark sky conservation. He has appeared on BBC Sky at Night and Stargazing Live and is a regular on BBC radio.

Free parking at the venue.

Optionally bring binoculars, but in any event wrap up warm.
