Festive Altered Vintage Tins
Event Information
About this Event
Get festive and creative with this beautiful little workshop, including glass of wine and festive platter of nibbles, inside our cosy café shrub under the twinkling fairy lights as night time falls.
During this creative workshop, textile artist Jessica Kinnersley will show you how to turn a vintage tin into a little piece of festive art featuring a vintage Christmas card pre- printed onto cotton.
Jessica will guide you through laying out and sewing small-scale collages, using vintage ephemera from her stash, to display inside the tin. You can also work into or add some detail to your collage, using some basic hand embroidery stitches.
All materials are provided in small kits, including the tins (tins are usually the size of an old tobacco tin, to give you an idea of scale). Jessica will also bring her boxes of vintage paper goods, linens, trims and buttons to rummage through! Although some knowledge of basic sewing is useful, it is not essential and beginners are very welcome!
Booking essential.
Cost £40 including Eventbrite fees, materials, glass of wine and festive platter of nibbles.
Perfect workshop to treat yourself, come with a friend or buy as a Christmas gift for someone special.
The Heritage Centre and café shrub will be closed to the general public. Only 8 places available to enable social distancing - we will be following current Covid-19 guidelines.
About the artist:
Jessica Kinnersley is a local textile artist who creates mixed media pieces using vintage linens, papers and found objects. She is inspired by the things she finds, which often inform the scale and theme of a piece. Lovingly repurposed; her work often features stitched musings and printed images, layered to create nostalgic textile art and collages.
