Festive Decorations From The Hedgerow
Event Information
About this Event
Whether you wish to make a festive wreath, garland, table centre piece or a tree branch card display, it is important to start collecting materials in the autumn and having plenty of natural textures to adorn the structure when you collect the greenery in December.
Frances will show you a variety of innovative ideas and we'll spend the morning making reindeer from cones and creating a table centre piece whilst giving you lots of ideas for making your unique decorations at home. So keep an eye out for acorns with and without their caps (faires pipes), pine cones (there are lots of different sizes...), birch bark (found in woodland leaf litter), green hazelnuts (if you can beat the squirrels!), rowan berries and rosehips, conkers including the case and maple fruits and seeds . In fact, anything you see on your walks that you think would be good to use as a decoration. In addition, we will also make a clove orange for you to take home and fill your house with festive aromas.
Whilst we won't be making them on the day, for those of you who prefer knitting then how about some red/white mushrooms to adorn your greenery? Also, start to collect those odd bits of ribbon from presents you receive during the year.
The workshop will start at 10 am and we ask you to bring something to eat as we'll be working through and finish at 2 pm. Herbal refreshments will be provided along with materials to make a table decoration and clove orange. The cost for the workshop is £26 including the Eventbrite fee.
