Event Information
Description
Women's Work - Art from Southwark Collections
Join us for a festive late opening 6 Dec 18.00-20.00
Women’s Work highlights historic, modern and contemporary work by women in the Southwark’s art collection.
2018 has been an important year for raising issues about women’s equality and recognition. There are many powerful stories, from the centenary of women’s partial suffrage in 1918 to the #metoo movement. This exhibition makes visible a selection of female artists and raises questions about the structures that impact the ways in which women artists are represented, displayed and collected.
Featured artists include Margaret Sarah Carpenter, Prunella Clough, Anya Gallaccio, Grace Golden, Barbara Hepworth, Sarah Lucas, Saskia Olde Wolbers and Bertha Newcombe.
