Festive Letterpress Stationery Workshop - afternoon session
Sat 26 November 2016, 13:30 – 15:30 GMT
Spend a creative couple of hours making Christmas cards, coasters or gift tags in our new and spacious studio near the centre of Derby.
This session is ideal for people of all letterpress abilities.
On the Day
Chris will teach a small group the basics of traditional letterpress printing. After some basic prep in general principles and typography (if you’re unfamiliar), you’ll learn how to hand-set type on a composing stick, transfer it to a chase and lock it up for printing. From there you’ll learn how to ink up and operate an Adana 8x5 tabletop press.
Come prepared with an idea of what you'd like to print. We recommend a small phrase that will sit easily on an A6 card, coaster or large gift tag.
- Wear old, practical clothes that you don’t mind getting inky, or bring an apron.
- Sensible footwear; no sandals or heels.
- Long hair is best tied back (we don’t want it getting trapped in the press or covered in ink!)
Please note: these letterpress workshops are not suitable for children under the age of 8 or for people who cannot stand for long periods of time. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Workshops run from 10.00pm to 12.00pm or 1.30pm to 3.30pm and cost £45 per person (plus a small booking fee).
You can also book by emailing email@example.com if you prefer.
