Description

North Wales Financial Capability Autumn Forum - The further roll-out of Universal Credit (UC) and its effect on people’s ability to manage money going forward - see agenda below.

Fforwm Allu Ariannol yr Hydref yng Ngogledd Cymru – Cyflwyniad pellach y Credyd Cynhwysol a’i effaith ar allu pobl i reoli eu harian wrth symud ymlaen – gwelwch yr agenda isod.

From 09:30 - Registration and coffee

09:50 - Welcome and introductions, followed by UC and its implementation/roll-out

Update by Tom Gay, DWP Customer Services Lead North & Mid Wales on UC roll-out, with Citizens Advice Flintshire providing counterpoint balance as an area that has already encountered the further roll-out of this major welfare change so far. UC future roll-out and how it is impacting people’s lives day to day from a budgeting and financial capability standpoint.

11:00 - Morning Coffee Break

11:15 - Swopshop/lightbulb moment and solutions workshop - Supporting claimants on UC

Cambrian CU will deliver interactive content on its new Engage card, thereafter table talk format with interaction from those attending, with the good practice shared at the meeting disseminated to those attending, and generally to members, during and after the meeting.

12:00 - Housing Associations and UC

Table talk format, this format should be the most productive as the Housing Associations can say what they are delivering as key housing sector providers; what they do now, and will do in the future, to support tenants claiming UC. There will be a lead on each table from the Housing Associations.

13.00 - Lunch

13.45 - Fran Targett, Director Citizens Advice Cymru, opens the afternoon session

14.00 - WLGA to speak on behalf of all Welsh Councils on UC

Lisa Hayward, WLGA Welfare Reform Policy Officer, on UC roll-out and also any update on Council Tax collection protocols being undertaken currently by WG/WLGA together with any future thinking on Council Tax Support levels which could be disclosed at this time. Levels of Council Tax Support in England have had an impact on Enforcement Agent use and anything we can do on a preventative basis in Wales to make those affected aware of any possible change in policy, we think, will be productive as any reduction from 100% will also impact on household budgets.

15.15 - Interactive ession followed by Q&A.

16.00 - Close (Latest)
