FGM & Ritual Abuse Training for Youth Workers - Edinburgh

This course will give participants an understanding of what FGM is and its different forms. Participants will explore why FGM is practiced by certain communities, focusing on gender-based factors, cultural identity, and control over female sexuality. The course will cover international statistics for FGM, with a focus on the UK and Scotland. It will address the implications of FGM, looking specifically at the impact on mental, physical and sexual health. The course will also cover legislation, child protection, and the roles and responsibilities of professionals in respect to FGM.
Additionaly this course will also explore other forms of abuse, and in particular the various forms of ritual abuse, and its association with religion and witchcraft*.
*Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Ritual Abuse are explored separately. Many of engage ME's courses often cover more than one subject matter.

This course is Free to Youth Workers and Youth Work Volunteers. Please consider your availability before booking as spaces are limited and any cancellations received within 14 days of commencement of the course, will incur a £40 administration fee. If you book a space and do not attend, we may invoice for the full cost of the course (£68 per person).
