When imagining what a future with digital twins might look like, consider this…

“What if an all-seeing, all-knowing machine could connect every dot of data and replicate the world – the flow of planes and of cars, of energy and of people, of healthy cells and of diseased cells? What if that reflection then re-entered through the data dots to alter the world, for better or for worse?” Stephen Oram

This is what young people between the age of 13 and 17 have done, by participating in a short story writing challenge on the theme of Digital Twins. This has been run over the Summer of 2024 by King’s College London in collaboration with a group of City of London’s schools and with science fiction author Stephen Oram.

We hope you will join us for this unique event, featuring a short keynote lecture introducing Digital Twins for a wider audience, given by Paul Wilson, Chair of Smart Cities World Advisory Board. After this, we will hear each of the stories that came top in the two age categories 13-14 and 15-17. We will then use these as a springboard for what should be a lively discussion between the young authors, scientists in the field of Digital Twins, and you.

About the event

This talk will take place in the Anantomy Lecture Theate, on the sixthfloor of the Strand Building. There is step free access to this lecture theatre via lift. Please meet at the main entrance to the Strand Campus to gain entry to this event. Please arrive by 1.15pm to allow for a prompt start at 1.30pm.
