About this event

Community • Heritage

Come and explore the beautiful heathland and coastal slopes of Portent Common, designated as a Site of Special Interest (SSI) in 2007. We will visit the Le Don Dixon and time travel back in time to 1795 where Le Cotte Battery, the oldest building on the site, commands the bay of St Brelade, Beauport and Ouaisné.

Go back to the time of Palaeolithic man and survey the barren landscape as the bitterly cold winds swept across from the ice, providing a great vantage point for the movement of animals on the plains below. Then come back to the present as we wander through the heathland of this beautiful site. Mostly a flat walk.

A walk of 2.5 miles. We will meet at Noirmont carpark, 12a bus route.

Supported by The Jersey Community Foundation with funds from the Channel Islands Lottery.
