Event description

Description

Tuesday 6th February, 1-3.30pm, Mossgiel Farm, Ayrshire

What grass seed mixes work best for dairy cows?

Join a Field Lab to find out.

Dairy farmer Bryce Cunningham is trying to improve his grass swards at Mossgiel Farm, and over the course of this year will be comparing some off-the-shelf grass seed mixes with bespoke mixes suited to local conditions.

Our kick off meeting is in Bryce’s kitchen over tea and coffee, with Andrew Best from Watson Seeds discussing how to get the most out of herbal leys and a trip to the field to look at the current grass quality.

If you’re a farmer, grower or land manager, book your free place now by clicking on the 'Register' button: it’s open to all but we’re expecting this session to fill up quickly, and booking is absolutely essential.

Funding for this activity is made available through the SRDP Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Fund (which is jointly funded by the Scottish Government and the European Union), with partner funding from Quality Meat Scotland, Forestry Commission Scotland, Innovative Farmers and The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation.
